Los Cabos
Spring brings on thoughts of great fishing, and Los Cabos is the No.1 location for that…
In Mexico’s largest and most popular sports fishing destination, the piscine triumvirate of Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and La Paz hold a panoply of world records. More important, the collision of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean churn up a cornucopia of sport fish. Some estimates claim as many as 50,000 marlin and sailfish, the most prized species, are pulled out of these waters each year; even the most conservative estimate, around 15,000, puts you in an excellent position to bolster your fishing reputation.
The months of June to December are the best bets for snagging blue and black marlin, while sailfish are most plentiful between April and October. The rest of the year, striped marlin and various other species are worthy stand-ins for the stars, while wahoo, dorado and yellowtail, snapper, corvina and roosterfish abound.

I am not much of a fishing person but I do enjoy going out onto the Sea of Cortez and tossing a line here and there to see what comes up. I have never been disappointed so far after living here 3 years. Sports Fishing Magazine writes “The fishing in Cabo is like no other place on earth. There is always something to catch in the Sea of Cortez. When the bite is a little slow in one area there are always other places to run and other species to target.” If you are heading to any of the great hotels on the East Cape be sure to leave a little time to see Cabo Riviera. Next year, this time, you may just be fishing out of our Marina.

Last night wrapped up the 30th annual Bisbee’s Black and Blue Tournament and what a crazy tournament this turned out to be. I don’t think I can write about it as eloquently as Captain Dave Lear does on the Bisbee’s website. So I would suggest going there to read all about the events of the tournament. www.bisbees.com.
Cabo Riviera was a major presenter in the tournament which was broadcast live stream to over 300,000 viewers daily by www.livevideoventures.com. I even had some fun getting on there to say hi to people that I know. It was great exposure for Cabo Riviera in this event and I am sure people are talking about us and making plans to visit us soon. No longer are we Cabo’s Best Kept Secret. The word is out all over the world.
It was great seeing old faces and meeting new ones daily. Congratulations to all the participants in the Tournament and Event. I would like to send a huge thank you to the Bisbee family. They do an incredible job, each and every one of them, to make this event special and entertaining. I look forward to seeing you guys real soon on the East Cape.
Go to PHOTOS and VIDEO on my website to see some photos from the event.

October marks the month for two of the well recognized Bisbee’s fishing tournaments in Los Cabos. The Los Cabos Offshore (Oct-15-17) and the 30th Anniversary of the famous Black and Blue Tournament (Oct 19-23).
There was a lot of excitement from the Bisbee East Cape Offshore Tournament in late July, predicting that this years Black and Blue will be one of the best years yet. In the first day of the Governor’s Cup (Oct 13th, 14th, & 15th) a boat Captained by Sr. Daniel Fisher, landed a 713 pound Marlin. The dates to catch tournament action for both events will be from October 15th-23rd. Check out all the details at www.bisbees.com and be sure to visit our booth near the Puerto Paraiso Mall for the latest information about our resort.
Cabo Riviera is very proud to be a major presenter of all three Bisbee yearly tournaments. I hope I see you if you are in the event.

I will be the first to admit that I am no fisherwoman. That probably doesn’t come as any surprise to most of you either. I have fished a couple times and I do agree when you hook a fish and you are reeling it in, it’s exciting. I mean really exciting. But I am no fisherwoman.
Recently while sitting on the sidelines of the Bisbee’s EastCape Offshore Tournament I also found myself excited to see what was caught and how big it was gonna be. It amazed me further to find out how many fish were actually caught and released in this tournament alone. There were 108 Billfish Released: 2 black, 33 blue, 64 striped marlin, 9 sailfish, 9 dorado & 7 yellowfin tuna that had been weighed. So it is no surprise to me or anyone else for that matter, that Los Cabos is a fantastic place to fish even if you are not a fisherwoman. That is why Christine Delsol of SFGate.com wrote this article below.

On July 2nd Captain Ramon Almanza in his super panga “Los Amigos” caught a 104 pound Wahoo off the shores of Cabo Riviera on the Sea of Cortez. This Wahoo is believed to come in second to the IGFA world record set in July of 2005 by 15 year old Sara Hayward of Nacogdoches, Texas when she landed a 182 pound Wahoo 10 miles Southeast of the Cabo San Lucas Arch. Imagine in Cabo Riviera on any given day you could walk out of your home, jump on your boat, and cast a line within minutes of leaving the breakwaters to catch your own record breaking fish.
